Servers Hardening

Web applications are only a little part of a complete system that will give them service. There may be security gaps in web servers, databases, operating systems and other systems running on servers, whether local or these are provided by a cloud computing provider.

Securing servers (also known as "Server Hardening") is responsible for reviewing all these components that are part of an applicative solution, and prove if they were properly configured on the security aspects. As web applications rely on the web server and the underlying operating system, if there are problems in them, then all the security at the level of the application is of little use.
